Forest Cemetery was established in 1840 when Benjamin F. Stickney sold 8 acres of his land to the City of Toledo. Prior to that, in 1832 Edward Bissell donated part of his nearby property at Bancroft & LaGrange to the public for burials. These burials were removed to Forest Cemetery ca. 1840.
Today, Forest Cemetery encompasses over 80 acres.
The oldest sections are located closest to the main entrance.
